Special Meeting:
Wage Negotiations
January 15, 2004, 2:45 p.m. at
town hall Unofficial Minutes
Present: Chairman Bill Lieb, Supervisors Dave Stumpf
and John Dearing and Town Clerk Vi Novotne. Doug Smith, Maintenance.
1. Wage Negotiations for Doug Smith: 2004 and 2005
Doug
received a printout of his 2003 earnings record and a list of proposed wage
increases, each reflecting total benefit cost to the township. Bill Lieb stated
that the board feels Doug has done a good job for the township and also the
board wishes to know if there were concerns that should be discussed. As Doug had no concerns to discuss, Bill proposed a $1.00
per hour increase or $17.50 be Doug’s wage for 2004 and any Health Insurance
Premium increase would be absorbed by the township. Dave Stumpf seconded the motion. Motion carried. Bill stated that the board understands that
Mark Miller has desires for quality grading and has done almost all of the
grading. The board has asked Mark to
allow more grader time hours for Doug to become a skillful grader operator.
Bill explained to Doug that as
the annual budget for 2005 is presented at the Annual Meeting in March, the
board wishes decent figures to be presented.
The wages for 2005 are to be negotiated at this meeting. John Dearing proposed $18.25 per hour, which
is much the same rate as Mark Miller in 2003, Bill Lieb second. Motion carried. Bill Lieb noted that the township’s Wellness
Incentive shows appreciation for minimum sick leave time used as if or when an
employee leaves the township, the banked sick leave time is not
reimbursed. The incentive is one hour
pay for each day of sick leave remaining at the end of each year. Bill Lieb’s motion, seconded by Dave Stumpf
and motion carried that Doug receive the Wellness Incentive for the year
2003. Doug’s vacation days for 2004 is
12 days and increased one day for 2005.
The board and Doug signed contracts for the Years of 2004 and 2005.
Bill Lieb noted that the township
board is investigating the purchase of a pick up truck.
Doug and board discussed the
sanding and blading procedures.

John Dearing stated that a representative of the City of Maple Lake has
indicated a possible annexation of nearly 100 acres of land.
