            Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of the Town of Corinna, Minnesota will meet on February 24, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at the Corinna Town Hall, 9801 Ireland Avenue Northwest, Annandale, Minnesota, to consider the proposed assessment for the following improvement:

 

            T-552 and T-551 (Cedar Acres – Isaak Avenue and 78th Street Northwest Road Improvement) road improvements including gravel base, ditching, and bituminous surfacing.

            The area proposed to be assessed is properties abutting the road, properties which obtain access by using the road, and other benefited properties.

            The total amount of the proposed assessment is $544,610.

            The proposed assessment role is on file with the Town Clerk and is open to public inspection.  Written or oral objections will be considered at the hearing.

            No appeal may be taken as to the amount of any assessment adopted pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 429.081, Subdivision 2, unless written objection signed by the affected property owner is filed with the Town Clerk prior to the assessment hearing or presented to the presiding officer at the hearing.  An owner may appeal an assessment to District Court pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 429.081 by serving notice of the appeal upon the Chair or Clerk of the Town within 30 days after the adoption of the assessment and filing such notice with the District Court within ten days after service upon the Chair or Clerk.

            An owner may request deferment of an assessment pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 435.193 to 435.195.

            The amount to be specially assessed against your property is $5,288.  The Board may adopt the proposed assessment at the hearing.  You have the right to prepay the entire assessment to the Town Clerk at the Town Hall.  Partial prepayment of the assessment has not been authorized by ordinance.  Prepayment must be made within 30 days following the adoption of the assessment to avoid the assessment of interest.  Interest at the rate of 6.00% will be accrued if the assessment is not prepaid within the required time period.
